Eye Doctor Near You in Mansfield, OH
Located in the Walmart Vision Center, our optometrists at Eye Care For You in Mansfield, specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision - many of which do not have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses including eyeglasses and contacts.
Drs. Rhonda and Holbrook Riles take the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.
Dr. Riles Answers Your Eye Care Questions
Dr. Riles, what are the best ways to wear contact lenses if I have a history of allergy eyes or frequent red eyes?
I highly recommend daily disposable contact lenses to my patients who have had a history of allergy eyes or frequent red eyes and especially a past history of corneal infections. You wear them and pitch them on a daily basis! You don’t have to worry about build up of proteins or allergens on your lenses. It’s the safest way to wear contacts and the cost is very reasonable! However, some patients’ prescriptions are not yet available in daily disposables. In that case, I recommend three things to keep your eyes healthy and contact lenses comfortable, especially during allergy season - 1) Dispose of the lenses on a two-week basis; 2) Use a peroxide-based cleaning solution like Clear Care to keep protein and allergens from building up on your lenses; 3) Use a prescription eye allergy drop that is convenient for contact lens wearers. I am happy to perform an eye allergy assessment in the office and prescribe the necessary drops.
